One of my favorite clients is jewelery designer Wendy Brandes (and she also is one of my earliest clients too!). My Guy and I have actually spent time with Wendy and her husband while in New York and they are truly one of the most fabulous couples on the planet — if you know her already then count yourself a lucky girl. Wendy is also extraordinarily talented. If you have not yet gotten hooked on her self designed, made in New York fine jewels & baubles, then pop yourself over to her website and fall in love. After you have wiped the drool off your keyboard, jaunt over to her smart and witty blog to get the story behind what she does — you won't be sorry. Wendy does not do things by half measure. She does everything in her life full on, with 100% IN. She also loves, loves, loves vintage and will often buy pieces that are very in-your-face or make a strong statement — pieces that have a touch of wit or are very tongue-in-cheek.
In 2011 she bought the fabulous vintage Moschino text dress from me that you see her in above. Honestly who else could it have gone to but her? She has worn it a couple of times and I love it on her. Last week I was amused to see model Behati Prinslooin in the twin of Wendy's dress at the after party for the Victoria’s Secret runway show! I immediately tweeted it for Wendy to see and she immediately proclaimed herself the winner in an impromptu "who wore it best". You can read the full blog post she did here but this tidbit that I pulled from her post on it really says it all:
"I can’t believe I’m saying this about a 5’10″ woman who is young enough to be my daughter but … I wore it better! You don’t wear a dress like that only to flip your hair and do standard “sexy pose.” It’s a joke outfit, for Victoria’s sake! Look like you’re having a laugh."
And that is exactly and succinctly, the reason why Wendy DID win the Who Wore it Better!
