Real Life Styling [Ulyana Sergeenko]

If you have plans this weekend and feel like grooving a vintage vibe then study these photos carefully. Some of the clothes that Russian designer and photographer, Ulyana Sergeenko wears in these photos are actually from her own line of clothing that she designs and produces. (which btw I cannot wait to get my hands on!) But she does wear and collect vintage as well — it is all a fabulous mix of new and old for her! The cape below for example is "exactly the same one in which Catherine Deneuve appeared in french movie La Chamade 1968," Anyone who hunted down that cape and then chose to wear it over jeans — well let's just say that I am pretty sure Ulyana and I would be besties within about 30 seconds.
In a world where woman dress for the cameras, Ulyana dresses for herself and in a way that thinks of the clothes and the cut and how to best present them. I really want to meet this woman one day and have her explore and dress from my carefully curated racks. I think it would be fascinating to see her wear and style my vintage pieces. She somehow takes garments, twists them into something absolutely new, and yet manages to still make it look absolutely classic. She is perfectly coiffed at all times and yet seems effortless. Not an easy thing to achieve. She wears that mid-calf, full silhouette with ease and while your mind instantly says fifties she manages not to look stylized to the era — there is something about the way she mixes in the shape of the shoe and the way she wears her hair that counteract the "costume" aspect of the silhouette and she manages to feel fresh. But she does every length from micro to maxi and does it all fearlessly. She just has an amazing sense of putting things together and is a definite real life styling inspiration!
