On November 8th of last year, Marie Ely, the daughter of Texas country legend Joe Ely married Fred Stitz, who is in the band Razorlight. The date was the same day as Marie's mothers' birthday and the 500 year old oak tree they stood under to exchange their vows is the same tree Marie's mother and father were married under.
A few months prior to the wedding Marie contacted me and told me that Kelly Framel (The Glamourai ) had spotted a certain daisy dress on my site and sent over the link for Marie to see it. Marie fell in love — her cake was planned to have daisies on it so it seemed meant to be. I sent off the dress with love and prayers and was so completely happy when Marie told me it not only fit perfectly but that she was going to wear it as her reception dress!
When you pop over to the full lookbook you will fall in love. This is not your ordinary wedding. Marie told me that the entire concept started with the idea of a bonfire and then built from there. Her ceremony dress was a custom white buckskin fringe dress made by Leslie Crow of Heyoka Leather. Fred had his red suit custom tailored by Sir Tom Baker in London, and his hat custom made from Texas Hatters. He chose to stay barefoot and quite frankly, for some reason that detail seems the perfect choice. Kiki Smith made their gold wedding bands. She changed after to the daisy applique gown she found from my shop. It is a stunning organza, full skirted to the floor gown that was completely covered with embroidered, hand appliqued, individual daisies!
Fred's family came from Germany, some bridesmaids traveled from London — you will spot Kelly looking gorgeous as one of the bridesmaids too! They had friends come from Rome... from all over the globe! The party lasted until the next morning. People slept in tents, cars, Caravans, Couches, and some just stayed by the bonfire all night! The next morning Gino, a friend of Fred and Marie, made everyone left standing breakfast pizzas!
It really is one of the most beautiful and unique weddings I have ever seen. You really must take a peek at the lookbook on Shrimpton Couture and see more pictures of their day. It's worth it.
And for all and every future girl thinking to wear a vintage dress from my little shop — I think a mandatory invitation rule must be implemented from this day forward. Because this is one wedding I wish I had the privilege to attend.
I am truly honored to have even a little bit of me there that day. And Marie — you looked absolutely, stunningly beautiful. I truly thank you for sharing your day with us!
