This is Then That was Now [YSL vs Biba]

I am hard at work behind the scenes of Shrimpton Couture re-stocking items coming direct from the closet's of Jane and Judy Aldridge. I am very happy to tell you that there will be a dozen or so new items from the duo ready for you to snatch up starting this Monday! (Yes, you are welcome for the head's up and no I won't show you a sneak peek — but trust me- the stuff they sent is awesome! There was some squealing and ooohing and aaahhing going on in the studios the day the boxes arrived let me tell you!)

I read both their blogs on a regular basis (Jane's is the immensely popular Sea of Shoes and Judy is the author of one of my own long time favorites — Atlantis Home ). One of the best things about of both their blogs is of course, their love of shoes — a love that you all know I share in buckets!
Early last year they had posted the above picture on the left, of the Yves Saint Laurent Woodstock platforms, that Jane and Judy had fallen for during a trip to Las Vegas. Upon seeing this picture, I have literally been looking for the red version of that shoe in my size since. I almost won a pair on eBay two months ago, but like a dolt, got busy and missed the end of the auction — the auction to the ONLY red pair in a size 8 that I have seen for sale in an entire year. Yep — that day sucked.
Needless to say, this is a pair of shoes that sits on that shoe shelf that resides in the back corner of my mind — the shelf of shoes I will someday potentially own. If I see an image of these shoes for even the tiniest of moments I am drawn in like a moth to a flame. Imagine my surprise when I see a stunning photo on the web one day. I think for a fleeting moment that perhaps I have found a potential link to a potential site where I might be able to potentially snag my coveted shoes. Now imagine how that surprise turns to dismay which turns to surprised delight when I come to understand that the picture I am drawn to is NOT my coveted Yves Saint Laurent Woodstock S/S red 2011 shoes at all but an original advertisement for red platform Biba shoes circa 1960 something.
You cannot expect me to not now equally want to now own the original version as well when both versions are utterly wonderful, right?

This is a case when the old and the new are equally fabulous, don't you agree?
Now I have two damn pairs of shoes that I obsessively need to find and for now they both sit together on that shoe shelf in my mind, mocking me with their equal scarcity.
